"Megabyte, catch her." Frank called. Gabrielle fainted and Megabyte neatly caught her. He carried her into the living room and set her down on a couch.
"The men who captured you and Gabrielle are part of a group called Unit Red. More than likely they killed Gabrielle's uncle. They also probably called her school. He was her only family and if he was gone, no one would come looking for her." Frank followed them into the living room. "You care for her." He said after a moment.
"Yeah. She's so strong. I mean, weeks of being locked alone in a room with no light? I was going crazy from only one day of it. And I wasn't alone." Megabyte looked up. "Frank, what's going to happen now?"
"That's up to your dad."
//Megabyte?//
"Gabrielle! You're awake. Do you feel okay?" Megabyte helped her sit up.
"Yeah." She rubbed her forehead. "Who would want to kill Uncle Mike?"
"Frank said it was the same group that kidnapped us. Unit Red."
//Are you guys hungry?// Ami 'pathed.
//Yeah. We're coming in a minute.// "Don't worry Gabri, you're not alone. You've got all of us." They stood up.
"And we'll find them. They've been operating on the border of legality for some time now. Kidnapping definitely just pushed them over the edge." Frank followed them into the dining room.
After a huge helping of General Damon's special blueberry waffles, Adam, Ami, and Jade took Gabrielle to the spaceship. Megabyte, his dad and Frank went to check out the Unit Red compound.
Gabrielle stood on the beach, letting the sun beat down on her. She had teleported, with Ami's help, to her uncle's house and picked up some clothes and she now stood on the beach in her bathing suit and soccer shorts. Adam and Jade were playing in the surf and Ami was sleeping in the shade of a palm tree.
Gabrielle smiled, happy and safe for the first time in a while. She ran for the harder packed sand and began a series of complicated flips and twists. Her old gymnastics instincts came back and she spanned almost the entire beach with her tumbling.
She finished to the sounds of applause coming from the water. Slipping out of her shorts, she completed a series of back handsprings into the water and landed near Jade and Adam.
"Cool. When did you learn to do that?" Jade attempted a lopsided cartwheel and landed in the water.
"In gymnastics at school. I've taken it almost all my life." Gabrielle dove into the cool water and swam out a bit.
"You must really love gymnastics." Adam surfaced next to her. He pushed his hair back from his eyes and smiled.
"Yeah. I love the feeling of flying you get when you tumble." She looked back at the beach and saw three new figures waving at them. "Looks like advanced scouts are back."
They swam back in and teleported into the ship. Ami was already there. Gabrielle used one of the small side tunnels to change into shorts and a tank.
"We've planned the assault for tonight. Worldex has a strike team waiting for us as soon as we're ready to go." General Damon paced back and forth in front of the centre pillar with the kids sprawled on the benches around him.
Gabrielle sat on a couch with Megabyte and leaned back so her head was on his stomach. "Who's going?"
"Myself, Frank, and the team."
"You're going to need someone who can get around in there. I want to go." Gabrielle said from her spot.
"It's too dangerous. I don't know if we'll be able to get the field generator down and if you get caught in the building you have no way to escape." Frank shook his head as he spoke.
"What about you? If any of your men get caught, they aren't going to be able to escape either." She countered.
"Why do you want to go so badly?" General Damon sat on a bench in front of her.
"They kidnapped me and killed my uncle. I want to help take them down. I deserve to go."
//Gabrielle, do you know that you don't have the ability to kill?// Adam looked at her.
//That's all right. I don't think I could kill anyone anyway. I just want to be there when Unit Red comes down.//
Jade perked up. //I think that if you go, all of us should go.//
//Yeah. If all of us are there, the strike team would have a better chance of getting out alive.// Ami added.
//Especially if we could take out the generator. Then we could teleport if there are any problems.// Megabyte telepathed to them.
//All right.// Adam agreed.
The two men stood watching something pass between the teens. General Damon wished he could hear what was going on.
Adam stood up. "We've got a plan."
"All right. Let's hear it." General Damon sat.
